WAF Annual Meeting - November 13, 2013, Parkway Plaza, Casper, WY 1:00 PM
This is in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Association of Fairs Convention
Howdy To All the Wyoming Fair Folks,
Another exciting fair season is on the way and it is shaping up pretty nicely.
I am sure most of you have already made your plans, got your marketing and advertising together, acquired volunteers,
contracted with vendors, hired all the entertainment you need, and are just sitting back dreaming and enjoying beautiful Wyoming. Ok, Ok, maybe I am the one who is dreaming!
I do hope your scheduling for fair is working out and the stress level is not overwhelming. I know there are still a few sponsors out there that need contacting and there are grants available for fairs. I have a friend in Wisconsin who has won almost $900,000.00 over the last 10 years for his fair. There are grants for new buildings, repairs, advertising and even for acts. They only grant for acts that have educational and informational value. For example; bluegrass bands, cultural dancing, fiddle contests, science exhibits, even my act qualifies because I tell the stories about the artists and relate the music to American history. (Not trying to sell you, just giving examples) They don't grant for Country or Rock and Roll.
If any of you are still working on entertainment I know there are some acts out there that are looking for "routing dates".
(Probably some vendors too) It is a good time to make them an offer they can't refuse. Gas and motels are going up and up. Off days for entertainers are the worst. Except for John Dunnigan who goes fishing.
I am excited about fair time and I hope you are too. I hope this year is your best fair ever. If I can be of any help
just call me. And don't forget our convention is partnering with RMAF this year in Casper. It should be a hoot.
See you on the
road,
Marty
